Germany proposes to Italy, Buon San Valentino strip

I just had an epiphany!
I always wondered what Italy was going to say about the flowers before Germany interrupted because it looks like he’s strangely nervous. Even for being Italy kind of strangely nervous. At first I thought well, maybe he was going to ask Germany about his feelings, you know?
“But Germany giving me flowers, does that mean….you like me?”
(or something like that)
But, seeing this just now made me remember the rest of the strip.
Specifically, the part where Germany’s mind goes “ppfftttttt” (an overload, if you will) and he sees -from his POV- ‘himself’ putting a flower in (young, dress-wearing) Italy’s hair and then giving him a bunch more flowers.
That, in my opinion, pretty much solidifies beyond any kind of doubt that Germany was at some point Holy Roman Empire, but that’s not my epiphany because I think it’s pretty widely accepted as fact amongst us fans ;D
What I just noticed was this:
The parallels between the scenes.
We have Germany giving Italy flowers.
And we also have (presumably) HRE giving Italy flowers.
So, I thought that maybe instead of Italy’s sentence ending up like
“But Germany giving me flowers, does that mean….you like me?”
It was actually
“But Germany giving me flowers, goes that mean….you remember?”
Maybe Italy knew all along that Germany used to be Holy Roman Empire and that’s why he was so set on being friends and you know, cried and ran to his house in the middle of the night so frantically he forgot his pants, all because he had a nightmare that Germany didn’t like him.
At the very least, I think that at this point, Italy has had thoughts that maybe they’re the same person, and this scene is him going “Wait a minute…was I right?”
I just thought that was a neat possibility.
Italy’s dense, yes, but even he would be able to see the similarities between Germany and HRE…~

Theory: Why Watson Denies Anything Between Sherlock and Himself
So, I was re-watching “A Study in Pink”, and caught the part about his sister being married to/in a relationship with Clara. And it got me thinking. This is why Watson is in denial all the time and gets so frustrated by it being suggested he and Sherlock are a couple.
He’s grown up around his sister. He saw her come out of the closet. He has seen the pain that comes with that. She was probably mocked and treated harshly, much like most who come out as LGBT are. There was probably family drama that he would hate to deal with personally since it was bad enough to watch her suffer it all.
His sister is a lesbian and it was too hard to watch her come out that he refuses to ever go down that path.
Mystery solved.
Now if only he’d get over it so we could have this for real:
